BIG Event Staff

Director - Tess Strasser

Hi Bulldogs!

My name is Tess Strasser, and I am honored to be the Director for the 2019 BIG Event. On campus, I am a member of Alpha Xi Delta, Order of Omega, Phi Alpha Delta-Pre Law Fraternity, the Honors Program, and the Director of Philanthropy for Student Government. I also work at the University Center as a Student Manager. This year as the BIG Event Director I am committed to making our 12th year of the BIG Event the best one yet. I firmly believe that through continuing to strive for excellence we will grow our involvement with the community.

This year's event will focus on improving the number of Ferris State students who volunteer with us, by continuing to encourage students to develop a mindset of selfless service and encouraging participation of newer students who have not experienced the BIG Event yet. I am very fortunate to be working with an outstanding team of coordinators and can't wait to see you all on April 13th!

Database Coordinator- Alexandria Babikan

My name is Alexandra Babikan and I am this years Database Coordinator. My major is Criminal Justice. My hometown is Chicago Il. The Twinkie was invented in Chicago...yummy. I wanted to be apart of the Big Event because I want to be apart of something bigger with the time that I have left here at Ferris. I want to leave my footprint on the campus and be a legacy for those students who will come after me. I am a part of Zeta Tau Alpha and Active Minds. A fun fact is that I own a dog thats breed is known as a walrus dog.

Database Coordinator - Haven Chane

Hello, My Name is Haven Chane and I am the Database coordinator for the BIG Event 2019. I am a senior majoring in Business Data Analytics. I’m from Battle Creek, MI also known as cereal city. I have been involved in the BIG Event as a volunteer in the past, and this year I am excited to be a part of the committee to organize it.

I am also apart of African Student Union on campus and love to travel. Last summer I had an opportunity to go to Ethiopia and I’m looking for many more adventures. I am excited to be working with you all this year!

Housing Outreach Coordinator - Mariah Gather

My name is Mariah Gaither and I am the Housing Evaluations coordinator for the BIG Event committee. I am a Secondary Education Biology major with a Geography minor. My hometown is a small village called Kingsley, Michigan with a population of less than 1,500, which is about 1/12 of the population here at Ferris State. I got involved with The BIG Event because I absolutely love giving back to the community and feel this is such an amazing opportunity to do so. On campus, I am involved in a number of RSOs including Students for Sensible Drug Policy, Aspiring Educators of the MEA, and am on Student Government as Director of Public Relations. A fun fact about myself is that I was involved in 4-H for 14 years and have recently become the Assistant Specie Chair for the rabbit/cavy program in Grand Traverse County. I enjoy staying busy!

Public Relations Coordinator- Ashlee Campbell

My name is Ashlee Campbell, and I am a part of the public relations team. As my role may tell, my major is Public Relations.  I am from Ithaca, MI. Fun fact about my hometown: my high school has won 6 District Championship in football. I wanted to be a part of the BIG Event because its such an impactful event that brings our community together and I wanted to be apart of that. Outside of The Big Event, I am a general member of PRSSA. A few fun things to know is that I have a Doberman named Shadow and my favorite color is blue!

Public Relations Coordinator - William Wood

Hello, my name is William Wood and I am member of this years Public Relations team. I am originally from Dryden, Michigan, a small town with a population under 1000. I wanted to be a part of the Big Event because it was canceled the previous year and I have actually never gotten the chance to go. Now I get to go and getting to see all of the "behind the scenes" action is exciting. Outside of The Big Event, I am also VP of Campus and Community Outreach for the Public Relations Student Society of America chapter. One fun fact about myself is that I grew up on a farm and love animals!

Public Relations Coordinator- A'nya Amos

Hello supporters, my name is A'nya Amos and I am The Big Event's Public Relations Coordinator. This is my senior year here at Ferris as a Marketing major. My hometown is Detroit, MI, also known as the Motown. One interesting fact about Detroit is that it is the home of the only floating post office in the U.S. This year, I decided to be involved with The Big Event to discover more of Big Rapids outside of the university and network with other students. When not contributing to The Big Event, I participate in The Student Fashion Alliance as the Vice President and The Innovators and Entrepreneurs as Treasurer. One cool fact about myself is that I attempt to attend at least three concerts a year.

Programs Coordinator - Maria Rogers

Hi! My name is Maria Rogers and I’m the Programs Coordinator for the BIG Event. My major is hospitality managagement with a minor in restaurant and hotel managagement. I am from Grand Blanc, Michigan where we have one of the largest high schools in the state of Michigan. I wanted to be apart of the BIG event because I wanted to be apart of something bigger than myself in a town that’s given me so much. Some other RSOs that I am apart of are Zeta Tau Alpha, Student Government, Love Your Melon, Order of Omega, and the Hospitality Management Student Association. A fun fact about me is that I went skydiving after my Freshman year of college!

Volunteer Coordinator - Jenna Steele

I’m Jenna Steele, The Big Event’s Volunteer Coordinator. My major is Applied Speech Communication. I'm from South Elgin, IL (a suburb of Chicago). Money Magazine once ranked South Elgin 82nd in their "America's Best Places to Live" edition. I've had several close friends work on The Big Event.
